What are Certification exams needed for?

Manufacturing companies that develop different teaching tracks and tests based on their products, support those specialists who both completed education and passed all required exams, and, therefore, proved their qualification level. When manufacturing companies received all information about the tests from testing organizations, they began to grant specialists with nominal certificates. These certificates gave organizations a possibility to certify specialist’s knowledge and preparation level before hiring the specialist.

Why does an employer benefit from extra expenses on employees’ testing after completing the training? The answer is very simple: successful test completion guarantees that investments in specialist’s education were justified. Many western companies regard the successful passing of the obligatory testing after the training as an indispensable condition.
Testing allows:

  • to estimate the real knowledge of specialist’s in information systems support
  • to decrease the network ownership cost, and also to guarantee information services effectiveness and quality of users’ support in the organization’s network due to excellent administration by technically competent specialists whose  knowledge is ratified by the software manufacturer
  • to analyze current knowledge of specialists in advance in order to find out whether it is necessary to conduct additional training
  • to stimulate specialist’s intension for  additional education in order to raise the level of proficiency and receive an international certificate that confirms specialist’s experience .
  • to increase stability of network work due to the opportunity which a certified specialist gets as he receives additional technical information from the manufacturer. Specialist needs this information for a successful support of the used software.

Testing rules

There are two kinds of tests: formal tests with exact number of questions and adaptive tests. Adaptive tests are intended to check whether candidate’s answers to the questions are correct or wrong. Depending on the number of correct and wrong answers, the number of questions may change from 15 to 30. The examination time may be changed accordingly. More than 90% of tests are formal. The number of questions in different tests is from 45 to 150, but it is known beforehand. Accordingly, the examination time is strictly limited; tests can last from 45 minutes up to 3 hours. In formal tests, it is possible to answer questions randomly; therefore, you may first look through all the questions and answer the simplest ones, and then concentrate on more difficult questions without making haste. Each question has from 2 to 5 answering options. Usually only one correct answer is to be chosen. Still, some questions require several correct answers. Also there are tests with tasks that require doing a sequence of practical steps, which imitate work with a real product, but this kind of tasks occurs rarely.

Unanswered questions are regarded as incorrect ones.
